ABOUT US
"Our Truth" lies in the lived experiences of the members of the Clayton community. We live in a time where individuals, families and communities can no longer remain silent about trauma and the challenges therein. Together, we will raise awareness of the pain of the past, the challenges of the present and the hope for our future. Through honest dialogue, awareness campaigns, training and education, we will become stronger and even more resilient.
OUR STRATEGY
RAISING AWARENESS
The Truth about Our Trauma seeks to raise awareness of ACES and trauma in our community. We believe that healing begins with acknowledging the impact that ACES and trauma have on our children and families.
EDUCATING AND TRAINING
Educating community stakeholders that live, work, learn, play and worship in Clayton County about ACES and trauma helps our community to respond to this crisis. Training community members to address (and prevent) ACES and trauma is an important step in the healing process.
RESPONSIVE PROGRAMMING
Creating safe spaces for honest conversations and culturally tailored programming empowers community members to take ownership of their healing and, break cycles of intergenerational trauma.
CREATING A COUNTYWIDE PLAN
By bringing together stakeholders from all sectors and all walks of life, we can work together to develop a countywide plan to prevent ACES, respond to trauma and heal our community.
